WE ARE THE BLUE ANEW NETWORK
Blue Anew is dedicated to combatting “ocean blindness” by supporting various green initiatives as a working partner in European projects. Our mission is to promote ocean literacy - understanding and raising awareness of the ocean's influence on Earth's systems and processes, as well as the impact of human activities on the ocean. Ocean literacy extends beyond scientific knowledge to include appreciation for the cultural, economic, and ecological value of Earth’s water bodies, as well as the interconnectedness between human activities and ecosystems. It encompasses knowledge about the ocean's interdisciplinary characteristics, as well as its role in shaping global climate, weather patterns, and biodiversity. Ocean literacy also involves understanding the importance of the ocean for human societies, including its role in providing food, transportation, recreation, and cultural heritage. It emphasizes the need for informed decision-making, responsible stewardship, and sustainable management of natural resources.

COMBATTING CLIMATE CHANGE THROUGH EDUCATION AND ENGAGEMENT
Our work is focused on combatting climate change with programming aimed at raising awareness of the ocean’s value in regulating climate, revitalizing aquatic ecosystems and making meaningful contributions to the prevention of further biodiversity loss and habitat destruction. Blue Anew supports programming that fosters active citizen involvement across generations, innovation and engagement via education and outreach with material that supports adapting to the Triple Transition – decarbonization, digitalization, resilience. Our environmental education deliverables are aimed at promoting circularity, bridging the skills gap in the cross-sectoral Blue Economy, and strengthening the connection between people and the body of water in close proximity – whether that be the ocean, seas, rivers or lakes, in order to engender a sense of ownership for the health and well-being of the planet.
